Keecie design studio
A real Keecie stands out from the crowd: functional design with a vintage touch and the surprising print on the inside.
Craftsmanship: everything is handmade from the best quality Italian leather, which just gets more beautiful as it ages.
The driving force behind Keecie is Klaartje de Hartog. She has a background in product design and a passion for vintage design. Plus she has a stunning sense of colour and an eye for detail. What’s more, her designs are not only delightful to look at, they are also practical.
They are suitable for everyday use, for carrying everything you need. And they last for years.
How it all started
Keecie started in 2007, in Klaartje’s modest living room in Amsterdam’s De Pijp district. Patches of leather were strewn all over the room and her constant creative drive to come up with the next great design was self-evident.
The Window Shopper handbag was the very first Keecie bag with a silkscreen print on the inside. The living room depicted in this bag is a reference to how it all started.
Thanks to the dedication of all its passionate employees, Keecie has become the internationally renowned Dutch Design brand that it is today, available at exclusive sales points in the Netherlands and abroad. And, of course, online!
Klaartje de Hartog
Designer and Keecie founder
‘Wherever I go, I always have a notebook and a fine pen with me, because every Keecie design starts with a sketch. Nature is a great source of inspiration for me.
I am endlessly fascinated by birds, plants and leaves. I don’t necessarily have to leave the city to look for them – I also find nature in Amsterdam. Meanwhile, the photos I end up taking might just lead to a print in a bag. Like the photo I took from our hotel window in Turkey.
I noticed right away that the leaf of the Jacaranda tree would make a nice print. You can see it on the inside of theHide & SeekiPhone cover. As it happens, I often get ideas for prints on vacation, when I do much more drawing because I simply have more time. And no, it doesn’t feel like I’m working during the holidays! Drawing is relaxation for me.’
Julie Scheurer
Administration & Customer service
‘If you are looking for me, I can usually be found in the warehouse, surrounded by bags. We deliver all over the world, and we do our best to ship every order the same day. This means I have to keep a close eye on our inventory, partly to monitor what needs to be produced in our studio in Poland. I don’t want customers to have to wait too long for their Keecie bag or purse.
I gift-wrap each order as a present, which is a nice touch for customers. It’s funny that I now do exactly what I always wanted to do as a child. Even as a kid I dreamt of working in a toy shop, gift-wrapping presents.’
